On 6 June 1944, known as "D-Day", the Allies forged a new front in Europe to confront the forces of the Third Reich during the Second World War. This military operation, which marks the beginning of the Battle of Normandy, is one of the most significant chapters in the history of warfare and a milestone that set the course of the Second World War. More than 150,000 soldiers of various nationalities, including American, British and Canadian, landed by sea and air on Normandy's various beaches, such as Utah Beach, Omaha Beach and Juno Beach, as well as Pointe du Hoc. Your trip starts early, at 7am, from our agency in the heart of Paris. A luxury air-conditioned coach will drive you through the peaceful landscapes of the Norman countryside, giving you a relaxing and scenic journey. The journey will take you to the Caen Memorial, your first stop on this historic tour, where you will arrive at around 10:15am. The Caen Memorial, also known as the Peace Museum, will immerse you in the different phases of the Second World War conflict, with special emphasis on the Battle of Normandy and the advance of the Allied forces into French territory. This visit will immerse you in objects of daily life during the occupation, detailed models of the war machine and emotional projections that relive the events of "D-Day" and the Battle of Normandy. The next stage will take you to the emblematic American military cemetery of Saint-Laurent, located near Omaha Beach in Colleville-sur-Mer. This 70-hectare site is home to 9,387 white marble headstones neatly lined up on the lawn, along with a memorial, a chapel and the Garden of the Missing. This site is a tribute to the American soldiers who lost their lives during the Battle of Normandy, and is one of 25 eternal resting places established overseas by the United States. Your tour will continue to Arromanches, a historic site renowned for its artificial harbour used during the Normandy landings. This harbour allowed the unloading of 9,000 tons of supplies on D-Day. To this day, you can still see the floating reinforced concrete blocks known as "Phoenix". Here, you will have free time to enjoy lunch on site. In the afternoon, your itinerary will take you to the 360 Museum of Arromanches, where you can see the remains of the two artificial harbours built by the Allies. To round off this exciting day, you will have a short photo stop near Juno Beach, one of the main D-Day landing beaches for Canadian troops on June 6, 1944.
