Tour Overview

Normandy D-Day Beaches With Norman Lunch And Cider Tasting Day Tour
Explore Normandy's Rich History and Culture on a Day Trip from Paris Normandy, a region steeped in historical significance, comes to life on this day trip from Paris. The journey is thoughtfully designed to bring together poignant historical sites with an appreciation of the area's rich traditions, all presented with the illuminating commentary of an expert guide. Normandy's Role in World War II On June 6, 1944, under heavy air and naval bombardment, Allied forces launched Operation Overlord, which marked the beginning of the liberation of Western Europe. Soldiers landed on Normandy's beaches in the early morning, facing heavy German resistance. Utah Beach saw swift success, allowing troops to join up with their air support inland. Omaha Beach, however, proved to be a more formidable obstacle, with vertical cliffs and fierce enemy fire. Despite the challenges, the Allies ultimately secured control of Omaha Beach, and within a week, more soldiers were able to land on Normandy's shores, ensuring victory. Your Journey to Normandy Your day begins in central Paris, where you'll board an air-conditioned bus accompanied by an expert guide. During the journey to Normandy, your guide will provide insight into the region, highlighting points of interest along the way. You'll gain a deeper understanding of World War II history, the meticulous planning that led to D-Day, and the complexities and unforeseen challenges that arose. Whether you're a history enthusiast or a curious traveler, your guide will be there to answer your questions and provide insights. Visit Utah Beach Landing Museum Your first stop is Utah Beach, home to a remarkable museum located in an old German bunker right on the landing beach. While there are other D-Day museums, this one stands out with its outstanding exhibition on Operation Overlord, including personal stories and a rare original B-26 airplane, one of only six in the world and the sole one in France. You'll encounter actual letters from soldiers and personal artifacts that offer a glimpse into the human side of war. The natural beauty of the beach creates a stark contrast to the wartime events that took place there. Experience Normandy's Culture Next, you'll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the culture and traditions of Normandy. You'll explore a 17th-century barn and sample regional apple cider and Calvados, a type of apple brandy. You'll gain insight into the experience of Allied soldiers who often sought refuge in farms like this one. Following this, a two-course lunch awaits you at a local restaurant near the quiet port. Visit Pointe du Hoc Pointe du Hoc offers breathtaking views of the English Channel, surrounded by visible bomb craters and seemingly insurmountable cliffs. This visit provides a new perspective on the challenges the soldiers of D-Day faced. Normandy American Cemetery & Memorial One of the most emotional stops of the tour is the American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer. The cemetery, with its 10,000 white crosses, commemorates the fallen soldiers, each one engraved with a name. This vast expanse serves as a sobering reminder of the significant loss of life on D-Day. You'll have time to explore the cemetery, visit the wall of the missing, and take in the awe-inspiring memorial. From this vantage point, you can also look down on Omaha Beach, where the allies encountered the stiffest resistance and suffered the most casualties. This D-Day Normandy tour from Paris will rekindle memories of tremendous courage and sacrifice, and by the end of the day, you will have gained a newfound appreciation for the history and beauty of Normandy, leaving you with unforgettable memories.
