Tour Overview
Giverny - Claude Monet’S Home And GardensWe invite you to embark on an exciting half-day expedition from the heart of Paris, a unique opportunity to explore the life and legacy of Impressionist master Claude Monet. Accompanied by a passionate official guide, you will immerse yourself in the fascinating world of this prodigious painter whose canvases captured the essence of nature through unique perspectives of his own garden, such as the iconic "Water Lilies", the evocative "Japanese Bridge" and the vibrant "Irises".
Departing from the centre of the City of Light, you will embark on a journey that will take you through the picturesque landscapes of the French countryside. In a luxurious air-conditioned coach, you will enjoy the serenity of the journey to the charming Norman village of Giverny, a trip that takes about an hour and a half. It was here that the painter and passionate gardener Claude Monet spent 43 years of his life, from 1883 until his death in 1926, with his eight children.
This visionary artist not only captured his creations on canvas, but also in the earth itself. With a passion for gardening and a wealth of colour, Monet transformed his home into a living masterpiece. Throughout your visit, you will marvel at the central path leading to his house, lined with nasturtiums and a myriad of roses in every shade. The lively flowerbeds burst into a thousand colours, from tulips to daffodils, from jonquils to lilies and peonies. Stroll through the Norman Enclosure, where he planted various species of oriental origin, until you reach the majestic water garden that has captivated so many: a haven of water lilies, weeping willows and a Japanese bridge painted in a captivating green, in a choice that defies Japanese tradition.
Let yourself be enveloped by the unique atmosphere of the place, where the play of light and the reflections in the pond look like something out of a painting by Monet himself. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to explore his house at your leisure. Although a guided tour of the interior is not possible due to space constraints, you will be able to discover every corner of his home and workshop, known for its characteristic pink whitewashing. From the luminous "salon bleu" which connects to "l'épicerie", his workshop until 1889, and his private flats, every corner tells a story.
The sun-yellow dining room, reconstituted down to the last detail, will transport you back in time with its porcelain tableware and the Rouen blue-tiled kitchen. Be amazed by the impressive collection of Japanese prints that adorns the dining room, one of the most remarkable in the world. At the end of your visit, you can wander around the charming village and visit a shop-bookshop, an old area that was once the workshop of the Water Lilies. Here, you'll find a wide variety of products inspired by Claude Monet's legacy, from postcards and prints to teas and books. Don't miss Claude Monet's official crockery and flower and plant seeds that pay homage to his passion for nature.
This journey is much more than an excursion, it is a journey in time and space through the vision of a visionary artist. Experience walking in the footsteps of Claude Monet and immerse yourself in his world of colours and creativity in a corner of France where the magic of art and nature intertwine in perfect harmony.
