Tour Overview
Catacombs Skip The Line Guided Tour In Small GroupDiscover one of Paris’s most mysterious and hauntingly beautiful landmarks on this guided Catacombs of Paris tour. Skip the long lines and descend over 60 feet beneath the streets of the French capital into a hidden world few ever see.
As you enter through the official street-level entrance, you’ll be greeted by a chilling inscription: “Arrête! C’est ici l’Empire de la Mort” – “Stop! Here lies the Empire of Death.” What awaits is an unforgettable experience through one of the largest underground ossuaries in the world, where the remains of over six million Parisians rest.
Your expert guide will lead you through dimly lit tunnels lined with bones and skulls, arranged in intricate, almost artistic formations. These tunnels were created in the late 18th century to solve the city's cemetery overcrowding crisis, and have since become one of Paris’s most fascinating historical attractions.
Explore exclusive sections not accessible to the general public, and walk in the footsteps of 18th and 19th-century visitors who came to reflect on life, death, and the passage of time. Along the way, you’ll hear captivating stories about the history of the Paris Catacombs, from their creation to their role in World War II and beyond.
Whether you're a lover of history, architecture, or the macabre, this underground adventure is a unique way to experience the dark side of Paris. Don’t miss the chance to explore one of the most unusual things to do in Paris.
