Day 1: Exploring the History and Charm of Normandy
The adventure begins with your 7:15am departure from central Paris. You will board our modern, air-conditioned coach, which will take you through the picturesque western districts of the city, heading towards the Normandy motorway. During the journey, your guide will give you an introduction to the itinerary and immerse you in the essence of what is to come. Approximately two hours later, you will arrive in Rouen, your first stop on this fascinating tour.
Your guide will lead you on a walking tour of the historic centre of Rouen, a city that breathes history through its majestic Notre-Dame Cathedral, medieval streets and half-timbered houses. Rouen has inspired countless artists, including Claude Monet, who immortalised the cathedral in his famous series of canvases.
From Rouen, you will embark on a journey of approximately 90 kilometres to Honfleur. On the way, you will have the opportunity to admire the impressive Normandy suspension bridge, which towers over the Seine estuary. In Honfleur, you will have free time to explore this port town of picturesque alleys and colourful houses, which has gracefully preserved its historical and artistic heritage. Savour the richness of the town and its maritime atmosphere while having lunch in one of the traditional local restaurants.
After lunch, the bus will take you to the Landing Beaches, a living testimony to World War II and a monument to human bravery. You will start at the imposing American Military Cemetery of Colleville-sur-Mer, a place of remembrance that will strike you with its magnitude and historical significance. From the cliffs surrounding Omaha Beach, you can reflect on the history that was lived here.
If time permits, your day could culminate in Arromanches, a town that preserves the remnants of the 1944 landing, despite the ravages of nature. At the end of the day, the coach will take you to Caen, where you will stay at the comfortable Hotel Novotel Caen or a similar hotel. Here, you will share dinner with your fellow travellers before retiring for the night.
Day 2: Exploring the beauty of Saint-Malo and Mont Saint-Michel**.
After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, you will board the bus for Saint-Malo, approximately 170 kilometres from Caen. You will immerse yourself in a guided tour of this Breton city, which will dazzle you with its historical heritage, including the impressive ramparts, the castle, the Saint Vincent Cathedral and the National Fort. You will have free time for lunch in the heart of this city steeped in history.
The day will continue with a visit to the iconic Mont Saint-Michel, a historical treasure that marks the border between Normandy and Brittany. Admire the King's Gate as you enter, cross the drawbridge and enter the Grande Rue, home to museums, shops and medieval houses. Accompanied by your guide, you will ascend the Grand Degré, a staircase that will lead you to the majestic 8th century Benedictine abbey. The abbey's Gothic architecture will captivate you, and you can explore the cloister, the refectory and its garden overlooking the sea. After the guided tour, enjoy some free time to stroll along the ramparts, enjoy the coastal path and indulge in delicious crepes.
Return is scheduled around 4:30 p.m., with arrival in Paris around 9:15 p.m., culminating this two-day trip full of history, beauty and unforgettable experiences.
